If you are looking for  a Multicultural Wedding or Asian Wedding venue Heskin Hall is happy to work with you to incorporate traditional and cultural aspects into your day. We have years of experience in planning and executing weddings of all sorts of styles. We can cater in house both Halal and fusion menus or if you would like to use an outside caterer for religious reasons we do understand and can work with you on this.

Heskin Hall is a beautiful backdrop to any function. It can add a sense of history and style to you Multicultural Wedding or Asian Wedding. It is also very accessible. Central to most parts of the North West.

We also offer exclusive use so that you can enjoy privacy for you and your guests

Our main function room alone can seat c.120 for formal dining buffet style involving other rooms in the suit can take numbers to c.180/200.

For larger parties there is always the option for the hiring of a marquee to be placed on one of our spacious lawns. These start at c. £5000.

Muslim Weddings

We can cater for your Mendhi, Nikah & Walima in using our function suite of rooms in a manner agreed with you to best suit your requirements.

Hindu Weddings

We understand that Hindu Traditions have requirements all of their own & can adapt accordingly.

There are 2 entrances available if you wish to have the Baraat each side of the family arrive separately and can accommodate a fire pit & Mandap.

Advice on venue dressers is available as well as help to ensure that your day Traditional or Modern goes well


If you would like your Anand Karaj here we can do that . Our Ceremony room is licensed too so you could have both civil and religious ceremony if you wish.

We have a long drive for you Barat and of course would be happy to host your Langar either catering in house or with an outside caterer.

As a venue for any event there are few places that can match its charm and historical ambience. The Hall has a very interesting history, details of which are available on our website.  It sits in 8 acres of combined lawns, woodland and car parking . At just 2.5 miles from J27 M6  it is easily accessible and central to most parts of the North West

A warm and friendly, family run establishment, Heskin Hall likes to offer you as many options as possible to for whatever event that you are looking to stage. We have a reputation for being just that little bit different.  We have a licensed bar and a large dining room as part of our Function suite. Our terms are flexible and we have a policy of looking at every customer and their needs in the round. Starting with our smaller meeting room (some 10 – 50)  to larger capacity c140/150 we can arrange just the hire of meeting room from c.£50 to day hire for meetings or conferences for example  with the usual catering of tea & coffee on arrival & twice in the day as well as lunch from £35pp. We have WiFi and can provide easel etc..  Break our facilities include our  dining room ,  Tea Garden and Antiques centre .

As we see some sun light finally breaking through we can look outdoors and view the grey giving way to green and all the many colours of spring. What better way to enjoy it than to dine outdoors. Just step through from our dining rooms’ french windows straight out on to the terrace and relax.

2018 Last Minute Wedding



Are you a member of a club or Association looking for a place for a Group Visit?  Want somewhere interesting and a bit different for your Group Visit? We offer packages for groups who book in advance.

For groups (15 or more) we offer a “package deal” at £13.50pp of

  • entrance to the Hall (normally £1.50)
  • 2 course meal : and
  • a talk either about the Hall and its history or about Antiques (or even a “Roadshow style” valuation session),


All our food is freshly prepared and locally sourced.  To cut down costs each person in your party needs to make a fixed choice of main meal each in advance from the following (a vegetarian option is available).  Obviously it makes it easier for us if you could limit the variety of selection between you.


Main Meals:

Steak & Ale pie with Homemade chips and seasonal vegetables

Home made Lasagne and salad

Fresh battered fish & homemade chips with peas.

Roast Beef with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables

Atlantic Salmon with white wine sauce and seasonal vegetables

Sticky toffee pudding

Lemon Meringue pie


Your party will also, of course, be free to explore around the Hall.


For groups of 30 or more we will provide the same package (without the Dessert element) for £8.50pp.

How to Organise a Last Minute Wedding

We often hear couples worry about how to organise a Last Minute Wedding. They are put off by worries that it will be too difficult. That there will be too much to do.

Yet you can make some major savings by taking a Last Minute date and actually avoid a whole world or protracted stress. Many who have planned weddings will tell you that they feel the pressure of other peoples expectations. This grows over time it does not decrease.

So what do you need to know and do?

1.What is you budget?

Set a limit. Lets be honest few of us have the luxury of an open ended cheque book. Be realistic however. Be aware that the largest expense is likely to be your venue. So if you are unsure do a little research into the type of venues you like.

Having identified and set your budget identify what is most important to you. For most its simply having a good day with good food and surrounded by the most important people in your life. For others a near second to this or even a priority is something that they have seen in their dreams or on Pinterest. Be it live music, a certain style of flower or maybe a dream dress. If your day will not be your day without it then make sure its factored into your budget

2. Guest List

Its not rocket science. The more people you invite the greater the cost and sometimes the more complicated its gets. Getting RSVPs is often hard.

Increasingly popular options are small/intimate weddings of 50 or less that take place in the day as was common in the 40-60’s in this country.  After all with 50 or less you are unlikely to get a successful evening reception anywhere.

If you are stuck with a large family or families its not necessarily a crisis. A Last Minute Date can give you more “bang for your buck” so you can afford the large numbers.

3. The Venue

Identify the style you want – elegant, Traditional, rustic … then look at venues with this in mind. Don’t get bound up with Hotels. Most venues without accommodation have lots of local accommodation available and often its half the price or less than those of Hotels that use the rooms to add to their profits.

Look for advertised special Offers and Last Minute Rates and visit or call venues you like and ask.

If you are worried about the planning aspect talk to the venues wedding coordinator . many are happy to help and can even take a lot of the work off your shoulders with packages that include table centres, decor, cake and entertainment (DJ etc). Use their expertise. They will be happy to help as you are taking a date that they are eager to book

4. The legalities

Above all you do want to be sure you are legally married. For a Civil wedding (with Registrars at the venue or at the Registry Office) you need to give 28 days clear notice. The time runs from after you appointment with the Registrars to arrange things NOT before. Think of it as needing to be a poster on a wall somewhere for 28 days.

If you think you might like to go this Last Minute route you can get the notice bit done first. Then you can take a date as soon as one becomes available rather than having to worry about getting your appointment with the Registrars in time

There are similar requirement for most churches too. Talk to the Vicar or Priest for Christian denominations and for others check on the legality carefully. Not all are recognised by the state.

This need not be a big problem. If you cannot get married legally on the date or time or at the place you want then just “do the legal bit” at a Registry Office either before or after and get a celebrant to do a type of ceremony for you on the day in the style you want!

5. Dress

Just because you are Last Minute does not mean you will necessarily have to compromise on the Dress. Its true most bridal shops need 6-8 months for one to be made but there are other options. Look at the sale rack. There are factory outlet shops (Wed2b & BridalFactoryOutlets are the biggest but there are others) and you can save by going the Vintage route at Charity shops. Some now have special bridal shops! Again you bill can be greatly reduced as well

6. Attendants – Bridesmaids & Groomsmen

A top tip on how to organise a Last minute Wedding  is to get your best friends to help. Again however don’t involve everyone. Keep it tight. Less variety of opinions helps & less dresses and suits to buy keeps a handle on that budget

Most will be happy to pitch in. They may  want to help with the cake, invitations etc..

7. Invitations

Use the power of social media and your home computer and printer. Invites should be sent as soon as you can, have an RSVP and a request for details of any dietary needs

8. Cake

Is there a reliable cake maker in the family ? If not ask you venue for recommends. Again keep it simple. In truth it rarely gets eaten on the day & few guests now bother to take it home with them

9. Getting the church or venue

Does your  dream include a specific type of transport? A horse & carriage? A vintage car? Again ask you venue for tips, family, friends and last of all “google”. The same discount principal will often apply here for these suppliers too.

10. Photographer

First question – do you want one? If so then be aware the good ones are not cheap. Expect £500 min & more likely c.£900. Try negotiating as again this is Last Minute.

Alternatively is a family member or friend a keen photographer? Or perhaps you could get an APP & get the guests to download their photos to it.

11. Flowers

As mentioned above you may be able to get the venue to add these to the package at least in respect of the table centres. That just leaves button holes & bouquets.

12. Final Tips

So final tips – make a list, assign the Budget and  keep it tight.

Above all the simpler you make it the less you have to do and the easier it is. So perhaps consider a style that does not include formal dining. Have a late wedding & a buffet perhaps. This means that you can avoid the table plan
